Compensated Peer Review Model: Speed vs. Payment

The peer review process is the cornerstone of scientific integrity, yet it has long relied on the unpaid labor of busy scientists. A growing conversation in the research community centers on compensating peer reviewers for their time and expertise - a model that could improve review quality, reduce delays, and fairly recognize the intellectual contribution reviewers make.

But compensation requires funding, and that raises a practical question for peer reviewers and authors: how much payment would you require for performing an expedited peer review? How much would you be willing to pay for an expedited peer review of your to have your manuscript reviewed by compensated experts - and how quickly?

We'd like to understand the relationship between turnaround time and author willingness to pay. Your responses will help inform how a paid, rapid peer review model could realistically be structured to serve the scientific community.
